Overview
The J-1 visa is for participants in officially approved U.S. exchange programs — student exchanges, research scholars, teacher training and more. You must first obtain Form DS-2019 from the program sponsor (a U.S. Department of State-designated organization) and may need to pay the SEVIS I-901 fee. Certain J-1 categories are subject to the 212(e) two-year home-residence requirement; waivers may be available through a no-objection statement or hardship/persecution grounds. We assist with sponsor coordination, document preparation, interview coaching and waiver petitions.
